August 20th, 2008Lots of updates. Competed on the St. Paul team for the 2008 National Poetry Slam and had a great time. We won both of our prelim bouts, took 13th place overall (out of 76 teams from around the country) and most importantly performed great pieces. I’ll keep slamming this year. Check out Soapboxing for updates.
Traveling. Headlined the People’s Networking Convention Concert on 8/16 in Madison, and will be going back on 9/20 for a slot in the FORWARD MUSIC FEST at the Frequency. Lots more out-of-town shows this Fall being worked out.
Check out some of my writing at Culture Bully. Over the past few months, I’ve reviewed Lil’ Wayne, Nas, Santogold, Invincible, Death Cab for Cutie, N*E*R*D and many others.
Lots of RNC actions going on at the end of August and beginning of September. I’ll be leading workshops on art and activism at Macalester college on 8/30 and 8/31, playing the big RIPPLE EFFECT show on 9/2 at the Capitol w/ Dead Prez, Spearhead and many more, and playing other shows over the course of the week.
